i've been on vacation since wednesday and am now slowly preparing myself to re-enter the real world again in two days. it's been very nice here and the thought of leaving is sort of depressing! in that spirit, here is a song i love that's been on repeat in my head: depression.mp3 - dirty projectors

later alligators

070307_vacation i'm going on vacation today. something i rarely do! yes i went to austin in march, but sxsw isn't so much a vacation as it is a series of moments waiting for cabs, rushing around to see bands and getting little sleep. and yes i went to the west coast last year around this time -- all the way from seattle to los angeles, but as much as going on tour with three bands sounds like fun (and it was) i wouldn't call it a proper vacation, even if at times it looked like it. but now, today, i leave for VACATION. of course, i'll still be posting over at gothamist so it won't really seem like i'm away from my laptop. but i will be! anyway, i'm off to go find travel size shampoos and whatnot at the drugstore.

what are you doing tonight? thanks for asking. you're going see nuh uh at union hall!

everybody loves it.mp3

enjoy.

einstein of parrots

i didn't know alex the parrot, but after seeing this video a friend sent over -- i really wish he were still alive. he was amazing!

apparently there are a lot of uniquely smart african gray parrots out there. sadly, many are sold at petco and destined for a life of "polly want a cracker" vernacular.

gothamist house @ cmj

i'm just going to cut and paste what i just posted on gothamist. yep, it's come to this people. i'm not even going to change the "we" to "i". anyway, this will be fun!:

200709gothxy CMJ is coming up next month, and as we've mentioned we'll be opening the doors to Gothamist House again this year. We've got a big announcement to share, along with some little details of interest if you plan to attend any of the shows:

Our favorite radio station has come on board! WOXY will be broadcasting live from Gothamist House all week. The show will be streaming on their website, and later the "best of" will be compiled into a neat little podcast you can carry around with you on your portable music listening device of choice!

The House is free (no badges required), will be open from 2pm to around 8:30pm each day from October 17th through October 20th and will be at The White Rabbit (145 E. Houston Street) again. Have to work? Listen on WOXY til you can come out and see the bands live! We'll be announcing the lineups in early October, so stay tuned for that. And again, if you're interested in becoming a sponsor for the show, please email GothamistHouse (a) gmail dot com.
