i feel like i should update this blog. but what to say?
i would like to make a few points based around events that took place last night...
POINT THE FIRST: i went to see the cloud room at hiro ballroom, and my friend said we had to stay for one song by patrick wolf (who played after them) - even though we would assuredly hate it. so we waited, and waited and finally he came on a little after midnight. somehow he managed to be worse than i thought he would be. he is honestly the most over-the-top ridiculously contrived, choreographed "performer" i've ever seen. did i mention utterly untalented? (i can only believe that arcade fire was somehow bribed to make this happen.)
alright, i'm outing myself for watching this mtv show (but that is what i'm willing to do to drive this point home)...but you know how on the hills, heidi just moved in with spencer? everyone knows this is a horrible idea, and it's totally unbelievable that heidi cannot see what a complete scumbag spencer is. because honestly, EVERYONE knows he's shady. well...patrick wolf is like spencer, and all of my friends are like heidi. why can't they see how bad he is?! luckily, the friend i was with last night disliked him with the same passion as myself, so we departed during the first song. (alternatively, since i'm sure some of you don't watch the hills - you know how little red riding hood totally falls for the wolf being her grandmother? and the whole time you're thinking, "how does she not see what's happening here?" well, i think you know where this is going...)
SECONDLY, i'd like to point out that bread & butter is the best food ever. sometimes i have post-collegiate daydreams about moving to tuscany or paris and sitting in cafes, and there will be bread & butter and wine or (de)cafe au lait there. while i'm being so cliche, i might as well say there will also be a moleskine and a hemingway or fitzgerald book. anyway, last night after patrick wolf, we needed to get the taste of horrible music out of our mouths with a late night snack. we headed to ssam bar, where not only did i have the best tasting glass of wine i've had in a long time - i ordered bread and butter (it was on the menu!). it came with two different types of butter...highly recommended!
okay, those are my only two points. until next time kids -- remember not to fall for this patrick wolf character (no matter how many blogs declare his fabulousness to you!)
I miss the funny Pitchfork subheadlines. Whatever happened to those? Is this something that everyone already talks about? It's like commercials before movies or airport security, we all just kind of got used to it. Bring back Pitchfork subheads!
