i didn't go to 100 shows this week, i'm too old for that. instead, i hung at gothamist house and watched all of the bands that jeff booked. this was while i wasn't at a takka takka, slowlands or cloud cult show.

list of bands i saw. in order! superlatives time! just like in high school...

worst band ever (and also worst attitude ever): devastations

band i didn't know was a swedish pop dance band, but quite enjoyed even when they didn't start playing lo fi funk: lo fi fnk

best surprise: morgan from diamond nights (great acoustic set!)

best band i never heard of: loney, dear (listen and see below)

hard days 1.2.3.4.mp3 - loney, dear

a long time ago when i interviewed win butler of arcade fire, he told me how "the band is changing and trying new things all the time, and we are already experimenting with the opposite kind of energy as is in our live show; stillness and quiet." i was thinking about that quote when i watched loney, dear perform.
