this weekend i became totally obsessed with finding album covers that feature new york city, for this series of posts i'm doing on gothamist. i'm just really fascinated by the fact that i could walk 10 minutes from my apartment and see the building that is on the cover of physical graffiti or strange days. this is why i will always be new to new york. it intrigues me in a new way every day. anyway, it made me sad that album covers sort of suck these days. in 20 years from now i'll never look at the cover of, say, interpol's antics and get all nostalgic. i'll never be able to visit the place where the cover was shot. i won't even have the cover because it only exists on my itunes since i probably sold the cd to other music after getting it.
anyway, TONIGHT IS MOVABLE HYPE. you should come, it's for your own good. there will be really great bands there. come find me, i'll be running back and forth from the deejay area on the balcony to the backstage area to take swigs out of a bottle of wine to the front of the stage to stand in amazement at the sonic goodness.
"separation sunday" was shot somewhere in williamsburg. good luck finding it though.

Ha! I found that! :o) I was proud of that one. The best part was that the white van on the cover was parked in the same place when my friend and I drove by to see if we were right. Glad you saw my G'ist comment. That, or we're both really good detectives.
Actually I had just stopped by to congratulate you on a fantastic Movable Hype show. I posted a review and some clips on my site. Sorry I couldn't stay for The Slack Republic.
