papermag kindly added the shake your halo show to their "tips for tomorrow" section. and i didn't even have to bribe anyone to say such nice things, so let's just overlook the extra * after stellastarr*, shall we?

last year i interviewed raising the fawn for gothamist (read here) prior to the movable hype show i had them come down for. if you saw broken social scene this weekend you saw john from raising the fawn, he's one of the many many many BSS band members.
anyway, sometimes i make up terms when describing a bands sound. for RTF i coined, "atmospherock". which i was quite proud of. glenn just emailed me a screen shot of pitchfork which included an ad for RTF's new album - quoting my gothamist interview.
the point of this post is threefold:
1. i created the term atmospherock!
2. pitchfork does not like me. or gothamist really. and they totally had to put up an ad which quotes me/gothamist.
3. okay - there were only two points, but i like using the word "threefold".
pitchfork did mention the movable hype shows once though, so i think they secretly like me and gothamist. even if it's just a little bit.

last night ben brown held a little party for consumating in san francisco. ghostland observatory was brought in to bring down the house. and i was informed they did so...by rocking, so so hard.
katie took the picture to the right. please note aaron is NOT wearing white jeans, he is wearing blue jeans! so just take jeff's post on how to wear white pants and substitute "white" with "tight blue". it'll all be okay.
and seriously, buy GLO's new album. now. right now. i posted an mp3 here.

things to remember this week:
- fresh direct wants to pour lemon juice into your wounded, bleeding, unloved heart.
- go shopping new yorkers, it's tax free week!
- the raconteurs have, possibly, the most awesome website i've ever seen. it makes me nostalgic for my commodore 64. go check it out and relive the 80's. the band is comprised of brandon benson and jack white. i interviewed benson at scratcher bar last summer, some of that conversation can be found here.
- go to shake your halo on wednesday february 1st. THIS WEDNESDAY.
- buying tickets to movable hype 6.0 may be a good idea. the show is next wednesday february 8th. NEXT WEDNESDAY.

last night i, like everyone else, was at town hall for the colin meloy show. about a year ago i was at his show at the fez, which has sadly closed down since. luckily, i love town hall just as much, even if it is bigger. after a glass of mocklot (which i dubbed the cheap merlot they sold at the bar in the venue) i instantly felt warmed up, and sat down for laura viers set (who opened). she certainly lived up to the hype, but i was ready for meloy.
once colin came on stage - with his skull, pirate ship and red wine set up next to him - i knew i'd be able to escape this cold january for the first time, even if it was only for a couple of hours. it's hard to explain how he hypnotizes his audience with his unique brand of captivating songs and stories, but he does. he managed to make town hall feel about the size of the fez.
at one point he mentioned his girlfriend is preggers, and then sang a song about his baby-to-be (something he told us he swore he would never do). this was a little bit too lou barlow for me. and i love lou barlow, but this song didn't fit meloy's character. anyway, i'm probably just jealous that he has a girlfriend. moving on...this past summer i interviewed colin, which i was reminded of when i read jeff's site just now. you can read the interview here.

i am watching a documentary on the scifi network about the bermuda triangle and space time warps. there is a pilot named bruce gernon who flew through the bermuda triangle in 1970 and has spent the last few decades trying to understand what happened to him on that flight. here are the basics of his story:
bruce believes he flew through what is called electronic fog, which attaches itself to vessels. he describes flying in to an elliptical cloud which started out low to the ground, as they flew into it everything became dark and black with bright white flashes that became more frequent. the cloud formed a tunnel around the plane, and as they emerged from the tunnel he had a feeling of weighlessness, and all of the electronic equipment was malfunctioning. looking back at the tunnel, he saw the walls of it collapse. THEN they were in miami, over 30 minutes earlier than expected! they had travelled 250 miles in 47 minutes, including 100 miles of space and 30 minutes of time in THREE MINUTES.
AJSB, is the bermuda triangle a time warp? and also, can you explain the end of donnie darko to me, and how this might be similar?
*the picture to the right is on the site that tells the story of bruce's flight, and CLEARLY isn't illustrated correctly as the cloud is white inside, not dark and black.
UPDATE: they are now saying that the bermuda triangle could be connected to the city of atlantis, and that there is a vortex near bimini road, underwater, which may have sucked up the planes and boats that have been lost in that area. are these people in another dimension now? my brain hurts, help!
UPDATE: could this have something to do with the tv show, lost?!
