arcade fire at cmj 2004 vs 2005

last year scott and i went to the arcade fire show at mercury lounge during cmj. it was around 1am when they went on. it was an amazing night. the hundred or so people in the room could all feel it in the air - the energy, the magic.
this year we went to see arcade fire at cmj. at central park's summerstage. with thousands of others. and david bowie joined them on stage. below is a photo of last years show compared to this years show.

sure it was a lot of people, but i thought the
show kicked serious ass. it was my first time seeing the band. what an experience to see them doing their thing, instrument switching, basically creating a wall of sound all while giving a us a theatrical rock experience. i couldn't believe my eyes or ears. i can't wait to see them again.

i thought their performance was great but the sound wasn't nearly loud enough from where i was standing.

here's my own words and pictures of this year's show:
