last night i headed over to the frying pan before going to catch aziz's show at ucb. the frying pan is probably the coolest venue EVER. i'd never been there before, it's essentially a series of boats and docks that are all connected.
growing up i spent a lot of my time on boats and i've got a soft spot for them. i also loved sharks and when i was little and i remember after watching jaws one year in montauk (an annual summer trip) i was trying to find a one in the water. the boat always broke down so i knew i had some time while we waited for the tug to come get us. sadly, i only saw jellyfish.
anyway, back to last night. after catching the last two cloud room songs up on the deck, we watched har mar superstar (with his new summer haircut) play in the belly of one of the boats. lots of fun, very hot. then it was off to the a/c and ucb for crash test with aziz, rob huebel, demetri martin and some others. it should be noted that the trachtenburg family slideshow players are doing a show there next monday (tickets here) prior to crash test. guests for crash test next week are todd barry, patrick borelli, dan cronin and paul scheer (it's free, but you can reserve tickets here). go to both! um, if you want to.
