i was up above it/now i'm down in it

i think it was 10 or 11 years ago when i first saw nine inch nails.
at the time i was far away from the stage and in a much larger venue. images of decaying animals projected onto a giant screen in the arena and even though trent was just a little dot on the stage, i felt close to the songs. i was screaming the lyrics and sweating out the angst.
tonight, i was dangerously close to the "pit" (are the kids still calling it that these days?) and my health insurance doesn't kick in for another 3 months. that thought left my mind once "march of the pigs" came on. i may have only been screaming on the inside this time, but it still felt as good as it did over a decade ago.
