hi there,
you should go to this event tonight. it raises money for breast cancer - which is a cause that means a lot to me. it also has to do with skateboarding and surfing, two things i wish i could do. i currently own: 1 antique skateboard, 1 indo board, 1 surfboard (that is now a coffee table) and 1 snowboard. someday i will become good (or at least mediocre) at one of them.
b4bc, or boarding for breast cancer, is a great organization - so support it if you can.
tomorrow night snowden is back in town and this time they're at mercury lounge! they go on around 10:30 or 11 so make sure you're there. i hope to make it after rilo kiley.
the rain has got me down and i haven't gone out all week so there's not much else to report here. except, with all this rainy weather and staying in...and the murakami book i was reading still in austin (where it has been since sxsw) i need a book recommendation. got any? permanantly on my nightstand sits a biography on django reinhardt that i will finish one day.
I know I'm not usually much for book recommendations, but Appointment at Samarra by John O'Hara is one of my all time favorites. It's kinda heavy and depressing at times, but so so good.

So are you just finishing the Wind Up Bird Chronicle? Or did you lose it? I am unclear, but I have mine that I just finiished and LOVED. You can have mine if you'd like. E-mail me if you want it.

Don't know which Murakami you're reading, Wind-up was amazing, but he's got a new one out that I just finished, "Kafka on the Shore" which was really good, he's hit or miss sometimes, I thought "wild sheep chase" sucked.
House of leaves was amazing... good recommendation.
And if you like all that kind of stuff, you'd love anything by Jonathan Carroll, I remember trying to push his books on you a while back.

immediately get What I Loved by siri husdtvedt. it will blow your mind, guaranteed. in fact, if it doesn't blow your mind, i will give you my favourite t-shirt, which has an airbrushed paiting of a bucking unicorn on it, surrounded by butterflies and covered in glitter. and if THAT doesn't blow your mind...
i'll get back to you.
