all the kings daughters

i once wrote a story that included the following lines:

She remembered having a map in her head. It started out with a few points of interest, minimal destinations, and it grew from there. She remembers that it started when she was very young, before she ever recalled seeing an actual map or globe of the world. Her first destination was Graceland. Elvis records echoed throughout the house at all hours when she was young, and bedtime stories that were made up as her mother went along usually entailed this glorious place, always named Graceland.

last night i went to the supper club to see lisa marie presley. more photos can be seen here. they were taken stealthly by my compadre, as no photos were allowed.

just incase you are wondering to yourself...i went because:

a) tickets were free
b) angela mcclusky was opening
c) she is the king's daughter!
d) the supper club sounded like it would be a neat place
(this is not in order, if it was it would read: c, b, a, d)

some things i noticed:

lisa marie fans are crazy! they love her. a lot. and most of them look like her. and you can tell she really loves her audience back - even the crazies. 

actually, that is all i noticed. that, and lisa marie is short. her daughter is tall though.

we didn't get any photos of angela mccluskey, but she was amazing! here is one of my favorite songs by her: love_is_stronger_than_death.mp3

UPDATE: sfist krissy posts the original love is stronger than death.mp3 - by the the. also helping to explain why that song was so familiar to me last night, i always hear it on kexp.

fun fact: i have actual dirt from graceland in an over-elaborate case on my shelf. i've never been to graceland.

i saw those pictures show up on your flickr and i totally wanted to know why in the world you'd gone to see l.m.p.! like, i almost emailed, i was so curious. but now it all makes sense. i'd have loved to see mccluskey, too.
