yesterday after coming home from the park, i got invited to go see matisyahu. described to me as a hasidic jewish reggae rap star, or something, i watched this video and knew i couldn't miss the opportunity to experience his live show.
and it was truly amazing.
his bio is also pretty inspiring, and i found a few parallels to my life in it - which i wasn't expecting. i think his ability to connect with so many different people shows in his audience. there were hippies, teenage boys bouncing up and down with hands flailing in the air, families, reggae and rap fans...and they were all so happy and nice and excited to be there. positive energy just hung in the air (it's just a shame the disgruntled security/doorman didn't get to breathe any of it in). i highly suggest you get yourself to the next show (especially if you are my friend dave gold), i bet you'll dance.
i just got into his stuff. i didn't know he had a show. i'll try to make it to the next one.

He should do a show with the Palestinian rapper I saw on MTV the other day......forget Ariel Sharron and the new guy on the Palestinian side these two rappers can bring peace through rap.....which would be a first.

I think he already did a show with some Palestinian musicians - JDub's Unity Sessions. But if you're looking for Israeli rap (Matisyahu isn't Israeli, and most of his stuff isn't really rap) check out Hadag Nahash. They're unreal!
